A Strat sized mini humbucking pickup made to occupy the same footprint as a traditional single coil pickup. Coils are wound with 43awg single build Plain Enamel magnet wire and two 12″ radius mild steel blades. This pickup was designed because of how nice and in the cut Strat neck pickups can sound. That said, I have always had a hard time with the single coil 60 cycle hum. Because of this, I started down the road to the hum-less Strat. I went through that for a couple of years; I made many pickups, tried different shapes, coil placement, wire insulation, magnet types, number of magnets and I have found this to be the ultimate neck single coil emulator. The coils are polyamide taped; then wrapped with a thick cotton string and dipped in bees wax for this wonderfully handmade, early Tele bridge aesthetic.

The plain enamel wire really helps to preserve that Strat single coil feeling. The magnet type used is a 0.250″ wide C8. This magnet was selected for use in the TechBro because it is strong and available in two widths; the neck pickup uses the smaller of the two. With this magnet and coil gauge and insulation, we’re able to capture the Strat head space with no hum and just enough spank, pop and dirt, to satisfy even the most pure of purists.
